Organize your chats

Every conversation row carries a menu of housekeeping actions — pin it, favourite it, silence it, archive it, or get rid of it. None of them affect the other people in the conversation.

Open the actions menu

Platform

Web — hover the conversation row and select the chevron that appears next to the preview.

iOS and Android — swipe the row to the left to reveal its quick actions, then select More. The menu opens as a sheet titled More Options.

The actions

Action	What it does
Pin Conversation / Unpin Conversation	Holds the conversation at the top of the list, above everything sorted by time. Pin several and the most recently pinned sits highest.
Add to favourites / Remove from favourites	Adds the conversation to the Favorites filter.
Mute Conversation / Unmute Conversation	Stops notifications for a while, or for good. A bell-with-a-slash appears on the row.
Mark as Read	Clears the unread badge without opening the conversation. It is only offered when there is something unread.
Archive chat / Unarchive chat	Moves the conversation out of the main list into the archived view.
Delete chat	Removes the conversation from your list.
Block User / Unblock User	Stops a private chat in both directions.
Exit Group	Leaves a group you no longer want to be in.

Platform

Block User, Unblock User and Exit Group are in the sheet on iOS and Android. On the web, open the conversation and use the info panel instead — see Conversation info and media.

Muting for a set period

Muting is not a simple switch. When you choose Mute Conversation, HushChat asks "Select how long you want to mute this conversation" and offers:

Cancel backs out without muting. To lift a mute early, open the menu again and choose Unmute Conversation — that takes effect immediately, with no second question.

The Muted filter above the list is the fastest way to review everything you have silenced and decide what to bring back.

Archiving

Archiving is for conversations you want out of the way but not gone.

1. Open the actions menu on the row.
2. Choose Archive chat.

The conversation leaves the main list. To see it again, select the Archived row at the very top of the conversation list — it is only there while the All filter is selected. The archived view replaces the list and its header reads:

These chats stay archived when new messages are received.

That is the important difference between archiving and muting. A muted conversation still moves up your main list when someone writes; an archived one stays put in the archived view no matter how many messages arrive.

Use the back arrow next to the Archived heading to return to your conversations. To bring a chat back for good, open its actions menu from inside the archived view and choose Unarchive chat.

On iOS and Android, swiping a row to the left reveals an Archive button directly — no menu needed. Inside the archived view the same button reads Unarchive.

Deleting a conversation

Deleting asks first. HushChat shows Delete Conversation? with the question "Are you sure you want to delete this conversation?" and two buttons, Cancel and Delete. Choosing Delete confirms it and you get a Conversation deleted successfully! notice.

Deletion may not be available to you

Whether Delete chat appears at all depends on the Allow conversation deletion setting in Workspace settings. If an administrator has turned it off, nobody in the workspace can delete conversations and the option is simply absent from the menu — everything else in the menu still works.

Blocking and leaving

Both of these change what the other side experiences, so they are worth treating differently from the rest of the list.

• Block User ends the exchange in a private chat — you can no longer write to each other. HushChat confirms with User blocked successfully. Unblock User reverses it and confirms with User unblocked successfully. You can also review everyone you have blocked from Blocked contacts in your profile.
• Exit Group removes you from a group. HushChat confirms with You have exited the group, and the group leaves your list. Rejoining needs someone still in the group to add you back.

Blocking and leaving are per-person actions, not moderation. To bring something to an administrator's attention, use Report in the conversation info panel instead — see Conversation info and media.
